The Gymrun Story

From 2001-2016, I worked as a PE teacher, Head of PE and Director of Sport in state and independent schools.

I am a qualified teacher and personal trainer. I have a degree in Exercise & Sports Science from Exeter University and a PGCE in Physical Education from Bath University.

In 2016, I set up Gymrun to improve the physical health, literacy and well-being of more pupils in more schools. Three years later, I set up the Gymrun Group, forming partnerships to share and scale this work.

Gymrun is a vehicle for building a transparent physical health culture in schools, where all pupils strive to reach the next colour Gymrun badge.

The Gymrun Group

The Gymrun Group is a collaboration of PE teachers, activity professionals and health providers. The aims of this group are to; reduce sedentary behaviour; increase physical activity; and measure physical health.

 Gymrun Outreach

We are incredibly proud to have embedded Gymrun in a number of schools in Zambia with Two Teachers Travelling. No equipment. No excuses.

‘I’m not going to be as good as you at some things and you are not going to be as good as me at some things. And that’s ok. You might not be the best, but you still need to want to achieve everything you can out of the ability you have. In Gymrun, the graded badge scheme enables you to set personal goals and targets. You have to put in the hard work and the end results will come. This is what makes it engaging. There aren’t many things that do this.’
